Get ready....
...It's that time of year again! That's right, it's time to sign up and fundraise for the American Cancer Society's Climb to Conquer Cancer!!
I will be leading Team Giant again this year and would love to have another big team! Last year we had about 90 members and we raised more money than any other team: over $6,000!!
The money raised by the ACS goes toward Research, Advocacy, Education and Service. Much of the money stays right here in Tucson!
Fun Fact: Did you know....The American Cancer Society funded the doctor that pioneered bone marrow transplantation? It's true, one of many great advancements in the fight against cancer that wouldn't have been possible without the American Cancer Society.
If you would like to join Team Giant, go to here and click "Join Our Team". We would love to have you. You may also donate to the team or individual members from that webpage. Click here to go to my individual page.
If you would like to get one of our personalized "Team Giant" shirts you will need to register by February 3rd. Pre-registration is $40 or $45 the day of the event.
The event takes place on Saturday, March 11, 2006 at 7:30am. It starts at Pima Community College and goes to the top of "A" Mountain. As most of you know, Team Giant started when Josh "Giant" Allen was diagnosed with advanced cancer in Dec '03 at the age of 25. As his friends and family, we rallied to show Josh the love and support that we have for him. We climbed "A" Mountain that year with a team of about 50 people and we raised thousands of dollars to help with the battle against cancer. Josh met us at the top and walked down the three miles!! This event was a turning point in Josh's treatment. He was overcome with the outpouring of love that we all showed him.
Josh's battle ended on September 26, 2004. His memory lives on. We also climb for all who have been affected by this disease.
